A year at our school
Young Curators Exhibition – Residence
On Thursday 21 August 2025, 3:33 Art Projects partnered with Young Curators—Visual Arts students from Kingsgrove High School and St George Christian School—to present Residence, an exhibition of works by award-winning artist Peta Minnici, in The Chapel Gallery at SGCS.
This exciting initiative connects students with a leading Australian artist to research, curate, and host their own exhibition. Through studio visits, gallery shows, and industry experiences, students gain valuable insights into the creative arts while making a meaningful contribution to their school and community.
Peta’s artworks transformed The Chapel Gallery and Atrium with a mesmerising interplay of colour, texture, shadow, and shape. Guests were deeply moved, with many pausing to immerse themselves in the detail and emotion of individual pieces.
We are sincerely grateful to Peta Minnici for sharing her art with our community, to 3:33 Art Projects for their inspiring Young Curators Program, and to St George Christian School for collaborating on this wonderful project.
Future Links
Kingsgrove High School celebrated its Future Links Careers Week in June 2025, culminating in a highly successful Careers Expo. The week-long program encouraged students from Years 7–12 to explore a wide range of post-school pathways, helping them make informed subject selections and set meaningful, aspirational goals for their future careers. This initiative was proudly supported by the Georges River Council’s Community Grants Program, whose contribution played a key role in making the event possible.
Throughout the week, every year group participated in specialised career workshops delivered by Turning Point Consultants. These sessions equipped students with important knowledge, self-awareness, and practical tools to guide their high school journey and future planning. The Careers Expo brought together the whole school community, alongside universities, apprenticeship organisations, and further education providers. Students from the Beverly Hills network—including Kingsgrove North and Beverly Hills Girls—were also invited, expanding opportunities for collaboration and shared learning.
Parents were offered a dedicated session to speak directly with providers, allowing them to better support their children as they prepare for subject selection, post-HSC pathways, and life beyond school. Kingsgrove High School Careers Adviser, Artemis Theodoris, emphasised the importance of early and ongoing careers education, noting that the program helps students build an understanding of their skills and strengths while exploring a broad range of options. “Our goal is to connect the skills and attributes students are developing now with their future aspirations. While we may not see the future, our role is to equip students to shape theirs,” she said.
STARS@KHS
In 2025, we proudly continued the STARS@KHS primary program, bringing together students from Bexley, Bexley North, Beverly Hills, Beverly Hills North, Earlwood, Hannans Road, Narwee, and Kingsgrove Primary Schools.
Throughout the program, students participated in a variety of engaging, hands-on learning experiences, including science experiments, art lessons where they created their own artworks, music skill-building, cooking sessions, and robot programming. Their enthusiasm was matched by our staff, who greatly valued the opportunity to support and engage with future high school learners.
We extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to the staff from all participating schools for their outstanding coordination and support. We look forward to welcoming these students back next year!
