19 Feb 2019
On Tuesday 19 February, Year 12 Visual Arts students attended an excursion to the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) to view the ARTEXPRESS 2019 exhibition.
ARTEXPRESS is a dynamic and popular exhibition that features a selection of the most outstanding student artworks developed for the art making component of the HSC examination in Visual Arts.
The exhibition provides insight into students’ creativity and the issues important to them. It also encompasses a broad range of approaches and expressive forms, including ceramics, collection of works, documented forms, drawing, graphic design, painting, photo media, printmaking, sculpture, textiles and fibre, and time-based forms.
This visit enabled our students to see first-hand the standard of excellence in material practice and conceptual strength, which is required to achieve a Band 6 result in the HSC. Students spent the morning examining the artworks and collecting information and inspiration for their own HSC Body of Work. The calibre of the work this year at the AGNSW was exceptionally high, and students took numerous photos of works which piqued their interest. The students found inspiration in the many expressive forms and excitedly discussed the potential for their own artmaking.
