International Women’s Day

On Friday 8 March, Kingsgrove High School celebrated International Women’s Day.

The day began with attendance at the ZONTA International Women’s Day breakfast. Year 11 students Sarah and Thomas were recognised for their achievements in the school community and represented the school with pride.

Both students took part in a moving candle ceremony that recognised women’s achievements in the world and remembered those women, lost tragically to violence.  Congratulations to Thomas who was awarded the ‘Young Men Standing Strong against Domestic Violence Award.’

At school, students celebrated at lunchtime with an International Women’s Day stall. Students wrote down how they pledged to create gender equality whilst donating to Crossroads Community Care Centre, a women’s refuge.  Pins, wristbands and pens were distributed with the message #balanceforbetter.
