Welcome back to Term 3

logo

Welcome back to all students and parents. I hope students have all had a happy, safe and restful holiday and are ready to tackle all that Term 3 will bring.

Term 3 is a very busy term, especially for our Year 12 students. This is the last Term for our Year 12 cohort. The Trial HSC begins in Week 2, 29 July. Students should have been studying hard over the holiday break in preparation for the Trial HSC exams and upcoming assessments as well as the actual Higher School Certificate in Term 4. We wish Year 12 well in their trials. A reminder to all students to grant Year 12 the courtesy of quiet around the Hall during the Trial exam period.

The Principal, Mr Douglas Melville, is taking extended leave for all Term 3. I will be Relieving  Principal. Ms Maria Dracopoulos will be Relieving Deputy Principal, looking after Years 7, 9 and 11. Ms Angela Ferla will be Relieving HT Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA).

Parent Teacher evening

Parent –Teacher evening will be held on Tuesday August 6, 3.30 – 6.30pm for Years 8, 9 and 10. Reports will be released through the Sentral Parent Portal prior to Parent Teacher interviews.

While the Parent-Teacher evening is an opportunity to discuss the report, it is also an opportunity to discuss other educational and developmental issues regarding your child with their teachers.

Parents are reminded to use the online facility to book interview times.

We look forward to seeing all parents on the evening.

Winter Uniform

With the colder weather upon us, I’d like to remind parents of the importance of sending their child to school in appropriate winter uniform. We encourage school uniform to promote a sense of belonging. Seeing the school in uniform is a positive experience for visitors and helps build pride.

It is important that students dress warmly for school to ensure that they do not get sick. The winter school uniform is long blue pants or blue skirt, blue shirt and school blue jumper or jacket and black leather shoes. I would like to remind all parents that ‘hoodies’ are not an agreed uniform item and are not to be worn by students to school.

Just a reminder, with the warnings in the media regarding the Flu season, it is always wise to keep ill children home. Infections can spread rapidly in the hothouse environment of a school. Often the two or three days away mean both a speedy recovery and less likelihood of an infection spreading.

O Sofo
