Student representative council

Students are happier and participate in their education more effectively when adults listen to their ideas and value their opinions.

Schools also benefit when students are actively involved in the life of the school. A Student Representative Council (SRC) is one structure, which can assist students and schools in achieving this ideal and improving the quality of school life for all students.

An SRC is a formal group of students, elected by their peers to represent their views. An SRC facilitates leadership and decision making by all students in the school by asking for input from their peers, holding open meetings where all students in the school by asking for input from their peers, holding open meetings where all students can personally voice their opinions and by holding special events or fun themed activities in which students can participate. It is an important way in which schools can provide meaningful leadership opportunities for students.

The SRC at KHS, exists to provide opportunities for students to address the interests and concerns of students during their secondary education. The SRC Coordinator will act as an adviser/coordinator, however, it is the students' voice that matters the most, therefore, they will be encouraged to discuss issues and develop solutions. There will be training in proper meeting procedures where motions will be put forward, debated and voted on.
