Kingsgrove High School University Shield Rugby League Team were drawn to play defending Premiers Kiama High School in the Quarter Finals (Final 8 Schools in the State).
In a hard-fought match, scores were locked at 10-all at half time. Kingsgrove High School were up by eight points 24-14 with ten minutes to go. Kiama High School hit back scoring two late converted tries to secure a narrow win 26-24. Both teams finished scoring five tries each. Kiama High School showed why they are the benchmark. In a true show of sportsmanship after the game, Kingsgrove High School formed a guard of honour acknowledging winning team Kiama HS & wishing them every success in the upcoming Semi Final game.
The competition started with over 300 schools and Kingsgrove High School finished 8th in the State and 1st in Sydney East Region. This is the first time Kingsgrove High School has reached the Quarter finals since 1994.
A huge congratulations to all the boys who have worked incredibly hard over the last 8 months to achieve this extraordinary success. They have truly represented themselves, Kingsgrove High School and the wider Community with distinction.
