Year 11 Multimedia Students @ JMC Academy

Students working with TV cameras at JMC Academy

What a day! Year 11 Multimedia Students attended a full day of workshops at JMC Academy. Students were able to alternate between using industry standard TV cameras in the studio, volunteer to be the talent in front of the cameras or work in the production studio controlling and switching vision as filming progressed. Gus, Tim, Jake and Nathan from JMC were fantastic mentors as they assisted students using the equipment and provided support and suggestions.

Students were then invited to enjoy a pizza lunch on the rooftop provided by JMC before returning to the studio for an afternoon of scene development. Some students embraced their character's storyline with gusto - Fatima and Tas delivered award winning scenes and became more liberal with the character development as filming progressed. JMC will provide all footage for students to review and critique in the coming weeks - will definitely need a movie day to view it all.

We are grateful to Nicholas McVay, Class of 2017. Part of his prize for winning the Martini Award at JMC Academy last year with his superb Space Escape stop motion was the free workshop which allowed us to benefit this year. The day was an invaluable experience for all students as they start to develop ideas for their Year 12 Major Projects.

Fun Fact: Allan T, the concierge at JMC Academy was an ex student of Kingsgrove High School from 1973!
